Top reasons to learn from me!

  3. Save time by knowing exactly how to practice each week!

  4. My students usually complete a level in less than 10 months

"I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning." – Plato

I grew up taking piano lessons. My mom switched my teachers every 2 or 3 years! Every teacher promised us progress, but we weren’t seeing the results.

After 13 years of lessons, and 10 years of teaching, I am helping all of my students progress faster than I ever did as a child!

My piano lessons are focused on understanding the music. More than that though, I teach you what to do DURING the week when I’m not there listening!

The difference you’ll see when you take lessons from me is better, faster results, because I will teach you HOW to practice!

Whether just starting out or looking for a more experienced teacher, I’m excited to be a valuable and inspiring resource in your child’s musical development. I offer piano lessons in Asheville, NC, and its surrounding areas.

Why Learn to Play the Piano?

I was 5 years old when I started taking piano lessons. I didn’t know why I was taking them. I only knew that my mom wanted me to learn! If you are wondering if you should learn the piano, or if you should sign up your child for piano lessons, here are some awesome reasons!

Plato recognized the physical and mental benefits of playing music 2,000 years ago, and his words still ring true today. A significant body of research shows that music – specifically piano playing – delivers a host of mental, physical, and social benefits. Scientists have discovered that children who learn to play the piano at younger ages typically exhibit:

  • Greater neuroplasticity. Compared to their counterparts, pianists who start playing at a young age display greater gray matter in their brains, improving memory, decision-making, concentration, emotional intelligence, and self-control.

  • Improved academic performance. School children under 12 who play the piano demonstrate higher academic performance than their non-musical peers.

  • Stronger vocabularies. Piano playing is believed to enhance parts of the brain associated with linguistic intelligence. Students who play the piano routinely demonstrate larger vocabularies and a stronger grasp on foreign language.

  • Increased stress management. One study suggests that playing the piano reduces stress more than any other type of creative activity.

  • Better physical health. Playing the piano is associated with improved blood flow and decreased blood pressure.

Take Music Lessons with an Experienced Teacher

As an experienced piano teacher in Asheville, NC, I’m thrilled to guide children as young as age five in their musical development. That’s why I offer:

Flexible Lesson Styles

Whether there’s a preference for in-home lessons, private lessons in my studio, group lessons, or another arrangement, I’m prepared to work with all needs to deliver lessons in a style that works for my students and their parents. Let’s talk about what you need and how to make it work.

Experienced Teaching

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Brevard College and over 10 years of experience teaching music classes and lessons to young children. When your child takes my piano lessons, they’ll receive lessons with an informed style of instruction designed to help them succeed.

Scholarships

Playing an instrument requires commitment, and the expenses required to take piano lessons can seem daunting. Some of my students have received up to $16,000 in scholarships, and I’m prepared to help parents connect with the resources to afford this opportunity.

Broad Musical Repertoire

While many music teachers prefer to specialize in a single genre, I’m skilled in classical and modern music. My students, therefore, gain a broad musical repertoire by studying a range of genres. Or, I can lead them through specializing in one or more types of music.

Annual Recital

Having something to work toward increases perseverance and motivation. All my students perform at an annual recital to showcase their growing skills each year.
