About Me

My name is Steven Green. My passion is music education. I graduated from Brevard College with a B.A. in Music. Long before I decided to commit my life to music, my mother signed me up for piano lessons. I started weekly lessons at 5 years old and didn’t stop lessons until I was 19.

By that time I had started my music degree and had to focus my efforts on my second musical love, the trumpet. 5 years of trumpet lessons later, I graduated with my B.A. and understood how best to teach beginners and advancing students.

I began teaching beginning band, advancing band, and a high school concert band at Fletcher Academy in 2011. This first music job taught me countless life lessons on how to be successful, and also what each student needs to know to feel great about music. I currently teach music classes at Asheville Pisgah Christian School in Candler, NC.

All along the way, I realized I have a huge passion for showing others how beautiful and fun music is. Starting a new student on the piano fills my week with joy because I can pass on my love of music to another child who might need that in their life. I am cheaper than the competition, not because I am a worse teacher, but because I want to see more people fall in love with the piano.

My clients notice a difference in my passion, skill, and connection with students. I work with everyone to find what works for them and show understanding when life happens. I provide piano books for each student so that parents aren’t  placed under additional financial burden. My piano students learn how to practice, how to read music, how to play by ear, as well as how to be their best everyday. Music is more than playing an instrument. Its about work ethic, connection, empathy, passion, and determination.
